
Food Prep for Survival Situations
Dehydrated foods can be a great option for survival food. They're lightweight, easy to store and transport, and can be eaten without cooking. Plus, they're good for backpackers!
There's nothing worse than being stuck in the woods with no food! You might be able to get by for a few days if you're with someone else, but if you're alone and don't have any survival supplies on hand, it can be devastating.
It can literally mean the difference between life and death. However, there are many different kinds of survival food that can help keep you alive when SHTF—here's a small sampling of everything you should know about them:

Canned food
Canned food is a great source of protein and vitamins and minerals. It can be eaten cold, heated up or even right out of the can! Canned food is perfect for survival situations because it's compact, lightweight and easy to store.
You can also use canned goods in recipes if you want something different than your regular meal plan.
Prepackaged foods
Prepackaged foods are a great option for survival situations. They're already cooked, so you don't have to worry about cooking them yourself, and they're easy to store in your bug out bag or emergency kit.
Just be sure to to keep pre-packaged food in an airtight container and stored in a cool, dry place (like your refrigerator) or other similarly refrigerated area until you are ready to eat it. Most of these foods will last upwards of five years if stored properly!

If you find yourself with no other choice but to eat some of this food during an emergency situation, make sure that there are no signs of mold or spoilage before doing so--if there is any question at all about whether or not something has gone bad, throw it away immediately!

If you have special dietary needs--such as allergies or religious restrictions--dehydrated foods may work well for you as well. For example, many companies offer vegan options that contain only plant-based ingredients like vegetables and grains.
Some Survival food tips
● Keep food in airtight containers
● Store it in a cool, dry place
● Keep it away from the sun and light (this can cause the oils in your food to go rancid)
● Don't let animals or children get access to it! Animals will eat anything that smells good if they're hungry enough, and children are notorious for helping themselves to things they shouldn't be eating.
It's also important not to let other people know about your survival stash--if you're planning on having them around you after an emergency situation has passed, make sure that they don't know where all of your supplies are kept!

Keeping food safe in a survival situation
When you're in a survival situation, the last thing you want is for your food to become contaminated. Here are some ways to keep your food safe:
● Keep it cool, dry and away from insects or animals.
● Keep it out of direct sunlight and heat sources (such as campfires).
● Keep it away from water sources like rivers or lakes where bacteria can grow on the surface of your container and then contaminate whatever's inside when you open it up again later on down the line!
● And finally...don't forget about chemicals! Chemicals such as bleach can be used as disinfectants but should only be used if there are no other options available since they may cause chemical burns when ingested over time by humans who consume them regularly over long periods of time.

● Bring a few cans of soup or vegetables, just in case there's no time to cook at home before leaving town and getting stuck in traffic on the highway (which happens more often than anyone would like).
